Chiara Mazzocchi

Born in 2001, Chiara Mazzocchi began studying violin at the age of 10 at the “Giulio Briccialdi” conservatory in Terni, choosing to devote herself to studying viola with Flaminia Zanelli two years later. At 17 she continued her training with Riccardo Savinelli at the same Institute. The following year she performed G.P. Telemann’s Viola Concerto as soloist with the Conservatory’s string orchestra. During her academic studies, she participates every year in contemporary music seminar- concerts organized by the Institute, including one given by Antonio Ballista in 2019 and one by Marcello Panni in 2020, in which she performed The Viola in My Life I by M. Feldman. In October 2021, she obtained her first-level academic degree with a grade of 110/110 cum laude, presenting a thesis entitled Rebecca Clarke: Viola-Player and Composer while, in February 2024, she obtained her second-level academic degree with honors and distinction, presenting a thesis entitled York Bowen: the Viola Legacy and the Rebirth of a Composer. She is currently attending the chamber music course at Avos Project in which she has been enrolled for three years and thanks to which she has been able to participate in events such as “BrahmsFest” and “TakeFive” but also in several Masterclasses with Danusha Waskiewicz, Timothy Ridout, Volker Jacobsen, Ettore Causa and others. As of 2023, she officially joins Trio David, a string trio with which she is now studying at the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola under Antonello Farulli and at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with Paolo Bonomini and Francesco Dillon.
